“What is Beauty” - Workshop with Monika Maj
We all need beauty in our lives because aesthetic experiences play an important role in our mental well-being. Feeling beautiful and believing that we all possess beauty facilitates self-acceptance and enables self-love. It is beneficial to first explore your body in order to make peace with it, accept it and even love it.
Description
“Beauty invites us to build bridges and connections between the senses and the soul, between contemplation and expression, between ourselves and the world.” - J. Ruth Gendler.
The process of becoming an expert on your own body begins with writing down your "body story." This exercise allows you to consciously examine the external and internal messages that influence your current relationship with your body. In our two-hour workshop, we will explore what body image researcher Niva Piran calls our "developmental process of embodiment."
Program
- Introduction by Monika Maj, “Why I do this”
- Monika's own body history
- relaxation exercises and meditation
- Exercise "My Body Story" - Invitation to write down your own body story
- exchange in the group and feedback
About Monika
Monika Maj is a body-positive psycho-educator who has gone through a path of compulsive self-improvement, only to then fall into the dark place of self-rejection, extreme jealousy, great fear and regular states of exhaustion.
Seeing herself as not beautiful and not feminine enough greatly influenced her early career choices, choice of romantic partner, and the way she lived her daily life. After healing, and in admiration and awe of her own body, she helps others accept and LOVE their bodies.
Monika is a very empathetic and highly sensitive person and sees the beauty in every single person, in all living beings and in nature. She believes that we all have beauty. Monika also helps people prevent and heal chronic stress and burnout, find emotional balance and transform interpersonal and internal conflicts. She has a Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Transformation and is certified in Hypnotherapy, Be Body Positive Psychoeducation, Community Conflict Transformation and Energy Healing.
In her private life, Monika loves to paint abstract art, write poetry and fool around with her daughter Maya and her husband Russell. She finds happiness in the beauty of nature and high frequency music. Monika would be delighted to welcome you to her next “We All Have Beauty” workshops.
